The nostalgia is real. This is a great remix of one of my favorite songs! :)

Keep up the good work!

Thanks dude!
Glad I could spark an old flame for your listening pleasures.

I'll admit it, this melody wasn't exactly what I was expecting. As much as I hate to say it this song has problems. The beginning is relatively uninteresting. There isn't much in the way of bassline and the 1-instument parts, while, not bad, overstay their welcome making them kind of boring. The drumbeat isn't necessarily bad, but it seems kind of unfitting for the title. The stuff in between the drops are just meh. Sorry to be so harsh, but I really don't like half of this song.

Thankfully, the other half of the song is really amazing. The drops were fitting to the theme and sounded really good. The instruments were well-chosen and I found myself re-listening to the song just for these parts, and it almost completely makes up for the bad parts. So this song is kind of a mixed bag. You should consider making a version 2 fixing the stuff but still keeping those awesome drops. That would be awesome :D

Sorry for the late reply! I AM actually planning on doing a version two! I hope you look forward to it!

It takes a while to get into the main melody of the song, but I really like the tune!

Also, you got the song to a decent time without having it be overly repetitive! That was probably my biggest obstacle when I first started, good to see you've already passed over that with ease :)

There's not really anything bad I can recognize about the song, the bass seems fine to me.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much! :3

MY. GOODNESS. THIS SOUNDS AMAZING O_o

For some unknown reason, this somg was sitting in my Email inbox and I didn't listen to it until now. I almost instantly regretted ignoring this.

Wait, this is your first time making a song with chiptune elements? It sounds like you've used them your entire career.

Of course, there were problems. From :14 to :25 the background tracks go out of tune with the song, and it always bugs me, but I don't think that's enough to justify a half-star deduction.

You should make more songs like this, they sound great! :D

Deemo-R responds:

Sorry it took me so long to actually get back on this, I've been getting caught up in my own head lately! I think the wonderful thing about chiptune elements is that they just feel right when you use them. They're simple enough to grasp fairly quickly, and then it's just a matter of experimenting with where you like them. I'm sure I'll probably even make some fully 8-bit songs with them at some point (likely next year)! I actually don't hear what you're mentioning at 0:14 myself. Either way, thanks for mentioning that something feels off there.

I love melody-driven music, so I'm very likely to do more stuff like this not too long from now! :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to review! :D

Wait, since when have sequels been worse than the original? That's like saying that Super Mario Bros is superior to every other Mario game, no questions asked. But I digress.

Anyway, I'm glad I inspired you! This improves on the original in almost every way.

Also, throwbacks like the one you used here are quite common in v2s, at least from what I've personally heard.

Hey, no shame in looking things up on the internet. You can learn some cool tricks like you did here.

Random semi-useless thoughts aside, I really enjoyed this song. You should make some remixes of some other songs of yours as well.

Evilgrapez responds:

Thanks! Personally, I didn't like SMB 2 as much as the original, and I've seen tons of sequels where it isn't as good as the original.

I've been actually planning on remixing Elevator to Nowhere. I could use the original as an intro, and then blow everyone away with total awesomeness. Haha, now if only I was THAT awesome...

Thanks for leaving the review!

This is some decent 8-bit. What does b1t stand for/mean?

Evilgrapez responds:

No idea! But it's the name of the game and the character in the game, so I decided to include it in the title.

This is a really nice song, only real complaints are that at :48, it feels like the time in which nothing happens is too long. Instead of being mysterious or whatever you were going for, to be it just sounds uninteresting.

That's not to say I don't like the song; I really do. I'm just offering up criticism. Sorry if it sounded like I was flaming.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Evilgrapez responds:

What? No reviews for Road to Devastation V2? D:

Haha, just kidding. At :48, that was the shortest I could make it without it sounding weird. Sorry about that. :/

Thanks for the review!

You play Geometry Dash too? :D

Anyways, the beginning piano part has these little gaps where nothing is happening, and it just sounds awkward. Luckily, the song picks up quickly.

The part at 1:39 was staticy in my headphones, but it wasn't really noticeable.

I don't know why someone rated this 1 star, so I rated 5 to counteract the trolls.

Keep up the good work!

Evilgrapez responds:

The 1 star rating was actually an accidental rating by me. xD

And yeah, I do play Geometry Dash. I've made a few levels, but my most notable one is Dynasty Party.

Thanks for the review!

From what I can hear, it's not a bad song, but the drums are way too loud and I can't hear much else.

You really nailed that "Nightmare before Christmas" vibe, as that was literally the first thing I thought of listening to this track.

I listen to NG on mobile mostly, so I can't loop it anyways. But thanks for putting that in the description, it helped explain the sudden stop.

Wait, your mixing skills undermine/destroy the quality of your soundtrack? Here I think you're just under-confident. The Final Phase and A Familiar Encounter as well as this are amazing. Seriously, don't worry about it. You're better than you think.

Keep up the good work!

Deemo-R responds:

Thanks man! I don't mean to make it seem like I've destroyed everything I've ever written with poor mixing. Just about everything that I upload to Newgrounds, I feel like I've done an adequate job on the mix. I have a huge number of tracks that have not been uploaded because of how poorly they're balanced, though, and those are the tracks that I'm referring to here. I certainly think that I know how to balance things pretty well when it comes to writing out parts in the first place, and that is very likely the most important part of the whole process. I'd just love to give it all that extra push that really unlocks the full potential of the music! :D
